Sunken Meadow State Park - Suffolk County, New York.

 An afternoon visit to Sunken Meadow located on the North Shore of Long Island in Suffolk County.  Peers over the Long Island Sound and overlooks Connecticut. 

 This majestic place is a heaven for birds, ducks, geese mallard, heron, variety of bird species. Cold, brisk, snow covered beaches & landscape does not seem to be an impediment for these creatures to flock to this spot.

Water's Edge

The Hudson valley boasts ponds, lakes, man made lakes. The landscape is pockmarked with a variety of water canals that leads to bodies of water. Beavers delights, we sometime see them crossing the road, hard at work to build the next dam.   Photos of Water's Edge; as winter ends and spring arrives.

Fences & the Landscape

Fences, sound boring ? Well, yes and no. Fences make up an important element of the landscape.
Curved fence mimics the curve of the road. Standing alone, proudly encasing the property. Not meant to be a security fence but a part of the landscape of the Hudson Valley.

This fence protects " Nowhere Land" it is there to keep from horses straying to the pond.
The tranquility of this forest is indeed inviting to many species of animals. This proud fence dutifully protects this beautiful serene forest from intruders.

The horse shed proudly shines it's red coat atop the hill. This fence stands it's ground as a part of the landscape.  The beauty of this fence is it's unobtrusive nature. Standing guard, protecting the horse that dwells on this property.

This robust, strong fence withstood the heat of summer. As summer winds down, the cool autumn weather sprinkles colored leaves. The backdrop exhibits the start of fall. As the weeks wear on, autumn leaves display brilliant fall colors.

Full summer; the pond behind the fences does not dissuade fowl, birds of variety from flying onto the pond.  Virtually a pool for these birds to cool off, refresh themselves before they fly on to their next destination.

Tested and tried, this old Lone Fence withstood time, seasons, a harsh winter followed by long hot summers. Situated in a valley, hills surround this lone fence. This fence protected a farm cottage long  abandoned. Standing alone, weathering the elements, this fences welcomes the occasional visitor with camera in hand.

On a back country road, near Copake Lake, a beautiful property with trees lined up leading to the entry, sports a crisp white fence.

Barns of the Hudson Valley

Hudson Valley has lots of barns, of different shapes, sizes, colors. Red color barns are more common.  Barns are;  charming, attractive. These barns evoke a sense of history, agriculture, a challenging environment, wear and tear and is an important part of the landscape of the Hudson Valley. 

This barn sits  atop a hill overlooking the hamlet of Ancramdale, NY.  
The barn door being the main icon with a crisscross design behind naturally stained color barn.

On 4th of July 2020, we celebrate the birth of America. This patriotic barn was drenched by the flag in recognition of founding of America.

An usually tall barn, turquoise in color. On route to Ancram, NY alongside Route 82. This big and important barn overshadows the landscape.  Many cars suddenly stop to view this barn, admire the structure and unusual color.

Fields of Gold April 2019


Winter 2019 winds down.  Temperatures hover between 40 ~ 30 degrees, an unwavering cold wind persists. On a Saturday morning, 2 miles south of Hillsdale, an open field begs for photos.

 This pond snakes along the field of gold, reaches 2 miles south of Route 23 towards Craryville, NY.  Golden stalks gives off brilliant colors against the backdrop of wooded forests.

Seasons Colors 2018

Each and every year  brings on a different beauty & awe. Fall colors, leaf changes started late thanks to a stubborn summer  that wouldn't quit.  80F  degree weather in early October is unusual.  Fall begins in the 2nd week of October.  Fall color leaves begin to turn in Columbia County, New York.

Saturday Morning Stroll


Located in Berkshire County Massachusetts, Monterey is a small but quiet village at the edge of Lake Garfield. Locals leisurely , swim, fish, kayak.  A narrow path winds around the entire lake, allowing for an inviting peaceful walk through the woods and around this pretty  lake. 



In the distance, a pair of kayakers, revel behind blue skies while maneuvering through the calm and tranquil water.   As summer winds down, the fall leaf colors will attract many visitors to this pristine spot.
