Sunday afternoons in Tokyo was all about going to the "Northwest Compound" located in Daikanyama, Shibuya -Ward. The property was elegantly manicured, great big open field, swimming pool, Volleyball, basketball,open  barbecue pit.  Every Sunday, the gang of gaijin, of 15 or more gets togther to play volleyball, or touch football followed by open spit fire barbecue. We looked forward to this event every Sunday. In the absence of email and cell phones, we burned up the tel lines trying to reach other . This photo shows the guys playing a friendly game of Volleyball.

All of those pictured left Japan in the mid to late 1980's. From Left; Victor G. moved to NY in 1984. Rick B. (spiking the volleyball) moved onto to Sinagpore, Dubai and currently lives in Austin Tx. Greg S, the only one here who stayed in Japan, currently lives outside Tokyo on the Miura peninsula. Raymond S, left Japan in 1984 and moved to New York where he currently lives. Lance S, left Japan, not sure when, currently lives in Orange County, S. Calif. What would it take to organize a reunion in Tokyo of all the ex-gaijin and organize another round of volleyball ?
