Almost Spring to Summer- The Hudson Valley

Worn Out Red Barn, Ancram, NY

On a Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21st, 2017, a short drive from Hillsdale NY, we take a road off of Route 22 South towards Ancram. Along the way, a treasure trove for photography. This RED Barn.....

As we drive on the backroads, the song " Country Road... "Take me Home"... comes to mind Coming around a bend, the next scene comes into view....

Country Road, take me home ....
Columbia County, boasts rich fertile soil, healthy crops; corn, rye, barley.  Many family run private distilleries can be found producing limited volume of boutique spirits.   All the while, a part of the " Rust Belt", many areas are in disrepair, decay and in need of refurbishment. This old tool shed in neglect and disrepair begged to be photographed.

An old Worn Down Tool Shed

Grain Silo

Hay Bales pock mark the landscape. Driving the backroads, a photographer's paradise.  From winter to summer, we find hay bales sprinkled along open fields.
Hay bales lay in wait
Modern day hay bales wrapped in plastic sprinkled along vast empty fields.
