Summer 17 Comes to a Close

The summer winds down, the fall season transits to the trees shedding leaves. The bright sun bursts through the bare branches, giving way to a blanket carpeting the grass of multi colors of red, gold, yellow, tan. The distant maple tree , proudly and boldly shows off it's coat of bright reds, oranges.  The autumn is here giving way to a cold winter chill.

We stoke the fire, feed the fallen branches. The aroma of burnt leaves, charred white birch branches. The aroma permeates miles from home as we stroll the mountain paths, cold crisp air, coyotes howling in the distance.

These memories stay with us as the days grow darker, longer, a cold mountain breeze.
Until next April, the thaw, the birds chirping.... young spring pale green buds......
